At Patagonia Camp, we aim to provide unique experiences in close contact with nature. We are thrilled to introduce our new self-guided Forest Therapy trail, inviting you to explore and connect deeply with the surrounding environment.
A trail of calm and connection
The trail, 0.6 km round trip, is designed for you to explore at your own pace. Just steps from the hotel’s main entrance, this trail offers a serene and immersive experience. Along the way, an audio guide will accompany you, helping you to tune into every corner of the forest. As you progress, you will pass several carefully placed observation stations, each designed to provide you with moments of reflection, tranquillity and connection with nature.
Forest Therapy, also known as shinrin-yoku, is a Japanese practice that has been shown to have numerous health benefits. By immersing yourself in the tranquillity of the forest, you lower your cortisol levels (the stress hormone), improve your mood and strengthen your immune system. In addition, this conscious immersion in nature can reduce anxiety, increase concentration and promote a more restful sleep.
Before setting out on the trail, scan the QR code available in our common areas or in the information folder inside your yurt to download the audio guide.
Then, inform the reception desk of your departure. There, you will be given a key, which should be placed on the designated holder at the trail’s entrance. This system ensures others are aware that the trail is currently in use (maximum capacity: 6 people).
For your safety and to fully enjoy the experience, we recommend using only one earphone to listen to the audio guide. This allows you to stay aware of your surroundings during the excursion.

Chilean Patagonia hides a lot of adventures among its millenary glaciers, colossal mountains, unexplored forests and crystal-clear lakes. But without a doubt, the jewel in the crown goes to Torres del Paine National Park.
The beauty of the park’s flora and fauna, in addition to the varied activities that can be done among dreamlike landscapes, attracts thousands of travelers year after year. Unfortunately, some are less prepared than others.
At Hotel Patagonia Camp we are experts in ensuring the well-being of adventurers from all over the world. For years, we have been connecting travelers with the untamed beauty of nature through thoughtful care and unforgettable exploration activities.
If you are planning a trip to Chilean Patagonia and Torres del Paine, we have prepared a series of tips to help you make the most of your experience and ensure nothing stands in the way of your adventure in this earthly paradise.
Much of the magic of Torres del Paine is born thanks to the particular climatic conditions that have forged its nature. And it is these same conditions that allow you to enjoy different experiences depending on the season in which you visit.
During the southern hemisphere spring (October to December) or autumn (March to June), it is possible to enjoy a much milder climate. In addition, you have the chance to marvel at the colors of the season.
Chile is characterized by very marked seasons, so if you travel in spring you will see the rebirth of the forests after a cold winter. On the other hand, if you venture in autumn, you will be able to contemplate how the landscape is tinged with a golden color that takes your breath away at each southern sunset.
On the other hand, if you travel in winter (June to September) or summer (December to March), you can take advantage of the perfect conditions for adventure tourism of the season.
Whatever your choice, prepare your suitcase with everything you need to face an extremely variable climate. It is recommended to prioritize layered clothing, with good thermal insulation and breathability.
Also, think about everything you need to face the season in the best way: anti-allergic products if you need them for spring, sun block SPF 50 for summer, warm fabrics for autumn, among many others.
Lastly, be sure to consider the weather when choosing your accommodation. Our yurts are equipped with a central heating system and are thoughtfully designed to adapt to the climate, maximizing energy efficiency and making the most of natural sunlight.
Torres del Paine has world-renowned hiking trails that offer a unique experience among panoramic views of majestic mountains and lakes.
Due to this same landscape, routes are offered for all experience levels and physical condition. We recommend that you always consult in advance about the trail you want to do and evaluate its complexity.
A good option is always to rely on local knowledge. To maximize the enjoyment of your adventure and minimize any risks that may spoil the trip, you can join our organized excursions that include expert local guides.
At Patagonia Camp Hotel we have a large excursion catalog that we invite you to discover. Also, all of our programs include these activities as part of your stay, check them out!
This brings us to the next tip:
How many times will you visit Patagonia again? This is a key question, because we are sure that after getting to know it you will want to come back, but we know that it is difficult to organize. That’s why we recommend you choose an accommodation that will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the Torres del Paine experience: live your adventure as if you were never coming back!
Beyond the basics we mentioned earlier—such as choosing a place with the right conditions to ensure the weather isn’t an issue—a great tip is to select accommodations that reflect the authenticity and essence of the destination.
Don’t let your adventure end because it’s time to go to sleep, and let the wild magic of the extreme south be with you to relax and recharge your batteries after a long day of adventures.
At Patagonia Camp Hotel, we are dedicated to fostering a genuine connection between people and nature. Our facilities are designed to harmonize with the surrounding landscape, allowing you to enjoy the melodies of birdsong and the brilliance of a starry sky—all without compromising on comfort.

Patagonia Camp Cup – Trail Running & Party is a renowned event organized by the Patagonia Camp Hotel, located a few kilometers from Torres del Paine National Park, in the Magallanes region of Chile.
This fantastic natural environment, located at the southern tip of South America, has the perfect setting for adventure tourism, thanks to its impressive and contrasting terrain, but what is this race all about?
Adventure tourism, in its various forms, is gaining followers around the world.
Patagonia has become a favorite destination for adventure enthusiasts looking for an adrenaline rush. This isn’t by chance; the region’s diverse landscape offers a wide range of sports opportunities. The scenarios here are varied and demanding, with weather conditions that can change throughout the day, providing a constantly evolving adventure.
One of the most popular sports in this region is trail running. Adventurers are drawn to the magic of Patagonia by running through trails filled with obstacles like roots, mud, puddles, rivers, and fallen trees.
Trail running replaces asphalt with nature, traversing hills, mountains, gorges, deserts, and icy areas. This sport demands endurance, concentration, and caution. It involves a higher caloric expenditure, varying intensities (sometimes requiring walking), and a greater emphasis on strength, particularly in the glutes and hamstrings. To prevent injuries, specialized training is essential.
As described by trainers in this discipline, trail running is a “pleasure not to be missed.” It combines adrenaline with moments of solitude, silence, and a profound connection to the imposing natural landscape—ultimately providing emotional peace.
Our hotel created and organized the first Patagonia Camp Cup in May 2016. By 2023, the race celebrated its 6th edition.
The Patagonia Camp Cup is unique in that it takes place during the fall season in Patagonia, offering participants the chance to run through a vibrant native forest of lenga and coihue trees, against the backdrop of snow-capped mountain ranges, blue and turquoise lakes, and the majestic Paine mountain range.
Every end of the season, Patagonia Camp Hotel celebrates with an exciting Trail Running race on the trails of the property, which has 3 distances: 15K, 21K and 42K.
Note of interest: When we talk about “season” in Torres del Paine, we refer to a period of nine months from September to May.
The Patagonia Camp Cup program includes accommodation in exclusive Yurts, fully equipped with central heating, an en-suite bathroom, and a private terrace. In addition, the program is designed to allow runners and their companions to enjoy excursions in Torres del Paine National Park, with exclusive activities such as hiking and kayaking, all while being part of this unique event.
The Patagonia Camp Cup aims to offer participants a distinctive experience by fostering intimate contact with the natural environment of Torres del Paine. The event promotes environmental care, encourages healthy living, and integrates Magellanic traditions. It is organized with high technical and safety standards.

Trail running races are gaining more and more followers. For example, in the last edition of the Ultra Paine race, over 1,000 competitors from 30 countries participated.
The popularity of this sport has increased in recent years. Since the sanitary crisis, there has been a rise in tourism and greater interest in trail running in the southern part of Chile.
Our country offers various alternatives for an unforgettable experience.
Learn more about some of the races that take place in the area:
As the first marathon organized in Torres del Paine National Park, it captured international attention since its inception in 2012. The marathon has been highlighted in numerous lists of must-run marathons by various international media outlets. The event celebrated its tenth edition on September 9, 2023, with 800 runners from 40 countries.
The Patagonian International Marathon had its last version on September 9, 2023.
An international trail running classic, Ultra Paine was established in 2014 as the first event of its kind in Southern Patagonia, Chile. The race offers breathtaking views of Torres del Paine National Park and features multiple distances ranging from 80K to 7K.
Both events are organized by Racing Patagonia, a project led by Stjepan Pavicic, a geologist, former athlete, and mountaineer. Over two decades, Racing has attracted more than 12,500 athletes from 74 countries.
Since its inception, the race has aimed to promote Chilean Patagonia globally and contribute to the sustainable development of tourism and the local community.
Patagonia Camp Hotel invites you to be part of this experience. Stay in our yurts and discover the best alternative to explore Torres del Paine and its most beautiful spots. Pavicic highlights the unique appeal of these races: “The pristine and wild nature of Patagonia, with its fjords, forests, and mountains, offers the perfect backdrop for experiences that are never forgotten.”

Planning your journey to Torres del Paine can feel a bit overwhelming, especially for first-time adventurers eager to visit the so-called “Eighth Natural Wonder of the World.”
Located in the far south of Chile, this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve lies in one of the most remote corners of the planet. Here, the untamed wilderness of Patagonia meets the end of the American continent and the gateway to Antarctica, creating a truly magical and unparalleled destination.
Despite its remote location, the immense allure of this natural treasure has led to the development of numerous routes and transportation options, ensuring travelers from around the globe can access the park with ease, whether through permanent or seasonal connections.
In this article, we will guide you through everything you need to know for a seamless journey to the breathtaking paradise of Torres del Paine. From the various routes and transportation links to essential tips, we will help you make the most of the first stage of your adventure.
Welcome to one of the most enchanting destinations on Earth!
Flying is the most practical way to reach Torres del Paine, whether you’re traveling from abroad or already within Chile. However, once you land, you will need to continue your journey by road to reach the park entrance.
There are three nearby airports to consider: one airport and one aerodrome in Chile, and an international airport in Argentina. Your choice will largely depend on the season and how much time you would like to spend traveling by land—a journey that promises spectacular scenery along the way.
If you would rather leave all the logistics behind once you arrive, Patagonia Camp offers programs that include land transfers, allowing you to relax and enjoy beautiful accommodations from the moment you land.
No matter what you choose, here are all the available options to help you plan your trip.
This is one of the most popular options for international visitors, thanks to the convenient connectivity and frequent availability of flights.
Santiago, the capital of Chile, serves as the main gateway to the country, boasting a modern international airport. Punta Arenas, on the other hand, is the principal city of Patagonia and a key logistical hub for exploring the region, including Torres del Paine National Park.
From Santiago’s airport in Pudahuel, you can catch a direct flight to Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Airport in Punta Arenas. The flight takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, though layovers may extend the duration to up to 5 hours.
Once in Punta Arenas, various ground transportation options are available to take you to Puerto Natales, a journey of around 3 hours and 30 minutes by road to the bus terminal.
For a more comfortable and hassle-free experience, Patagonia Camp offers regular transfers between Punta Arenas and Patagonia Camp as part of our stay programs. You can find more details about our services [here].
After covering the 250 km to Puerto Natales, you’ll arrive at the starting point for most tours and trips to Torres del Paine National Park.
Puerto Natales is the closest urban center to Torres del Paine and serves as the gateway to several natural wonders at the southern tip of the world. As a result, direct flights from Santiago are a popular choice for travelers.
This air route is available year-round, though the highest frequency of flights occurs between September and April, coinciding with the region’s milder climate and the high season for visiting the park.
Finding an airline that fits your schedule and budget is easy, with options like Sky Airlines, LATAM Airlines, and JetSmart offering the most flights to Puerto Natales. The direct flight from Santiago to Teniente Julio Gallardo Aerodrome takes approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes, while flights with stopovers may take about an hour longer.
If you prefer an all-inclusive experience, Patagonia Camp offers stay programs that include regular transfers to and from Puerto Natales, ensuring a seamless and stress-free journey.
For independent travelers, a quick 11-minute taxi ride from the aerodrome will take you to the Puerto Natales bus terminal. From there, you will find numerous tours and buses heading to different entrances of Torres del Paine National Park, including the main access point, Laguna Amarga.
Bus schedules and tour frequencies depend on the season. During the high season, there are typically two to three daily departures. The journey to Laguna Amarga takes around 2 hours, followed by additional stops at Pudeto, Camping Pehoé, and Hotel Lago Grey, completing a total trip of approximately 4 hours.
Whether you opt for convenience or adventure, Puerto Natales is the most practical destination to begin your unforgettable journey to Torres del Paine.
In addition to the options with international connections in Santiago, there’s a third choice: a domestic flight from Puerto Montt to Punta Arenas, or, if conditions allow, to Puerto Natales.
If you’re traveling through southern Chile, this can be an ideal alternative to extend your adventure into an unforgettable experience.
Puerto Montt is the largest city in the south of Chile and serves as a gateway to Patagonia. It’s the last major urban center before reaching the more remote areas of the region, with a well-connected airport and seaport. From Tepual Airport, you can take a direct domestic flight of approximately two hours to either Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales.
Upon arrival in either city, you will be just a short distance from Torres del Paine!
Traveling from El Calafate to Torres del Paine is a popular route for reaching the park.
El Calafate, also known simply as Calafate, is an Argentine city served by the international Comandante Armando Tola Airport. It can be accessed from Argentina’s capital or from international destinations, depending on availability.
The journey from the airport to Puerto Natales spans approximately 350 kilometers and includes a border crossing at Don Guillermo in Cerro Castillo. You can check the status and conditions of the crossing on the Argentine and Chilean complex websites.
Overland travel takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes, with border control typically quick and straightforward. The route on the Chilean side is well-maintained and offers stunning views—perfect for stopping to capture the scenery. You will need to arrange transportation to complete the journey.
For a hassle-free experience, all Patagonia Camp Hotel programs include regular transfers to and from Cerro Castillo. If you require transportation from El Calafate as well, we can arrange it for an additional cost.
We hope this guide has helped you navigate the main ways to get to Torres del Paine. While the journey may involve a few stops, the magic of Patagonia ensures that each moment and location will take your breath away with its vast mountains, pristine lakes, and lush forests.
Experience the enchantment of Patagonia with a high-quality stay at Patagonia Camp Hotel. Enjoy a range of diverse excursions and unwind in one of our luxurious Yurts—combining hotel comfort with the charm of natural wonders.
